Redmi Note 9 Pro (Interstellar Black, 4GB RAM, 64GB Storage) - Latest 8nm Snapdragon 720G & Gorilla Glass 5 Protection
Hey Guys it’s Pushpak, and today we are going to unbox and take our first look at the Redmi Note 9 Pro. So this is the actual retail box and not a review unit. Out of the 3 colours, I went with Interstellar black. And I got the 4 GB RAM variant coupled with 64 GB of built in storage. There is a dedicated micro SD card slot, but if you think you need more RAM and internal storage, you can go for the 6GB RAM and 128 GB Storage variant. Which colour and storage variant do you like? let me know in the comments.
Before we get to the unboxing, If you are new to this Blog, make sure to

on our website. Coming back to the unboxing.
Note 9 Pro comes in this familiar minimalist box, with a picture of
the phone on top. And at the back, you get some key features of the phone.
Let’s just open the box and take a look inside. As with most Redmi phones.
First thing we see in the box is this envelope, which contains the SIM tray
removal pin, a user guide, and since I went with the black phone, we get a
dark coloured semi transparent, flexible TPU case, for protecting the back
of our new phone. After that, we have the phone itself. I will keep it
aside for a moment, while wetake a look at remaining things in the box.
Below the phone, we get a USB Type A to Type C cable for charging and data
transfer. And finally there is a 18watt fast charger. Those are all the
things we get in the box. As always Xiaomi did not include headphones with
the Note 9 Pro.
Let me keep all these things aside, and get back to the phone.
After pealing all the plastic, I like how this Interstellar Black colour
looks. It’s not exactly black, I think there is a slight blue tint in
there. This back is very shiny and reflective, so to save it from
fingerprints, I am always going to use it with this case. While adding a
bit of protection to the phone,it also adds a lot of grip. And there is a
nice lip around the camera module, to help protect it from scratches. And
we also get a good amount of lip at the front, to protect the display. So
if you accidentally drop this Note 9 Pro face down, technically, the case
should take the impact and protect the display.
Speaking of the display, it’s a 6.67 inch IPS LCD screen
with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. And it gets
gorilla glass 5 protection. Now this is not an OLED screen or have
higher refresh rate, but it looks good for the most part. Colours look
nice, viewing angles are excellent, and it gets bright enough, to be easily
viewable in bright sunlight. There is a dot notch at the top for the
16 megapixel front facing camera. Since it is at the centre, and we
never have a lot of information being displayed there, it barely gets in
your way. Above the display we get the speaker grill, and overall bezels
around the screen are pretty much the same as we see on most other budget
smartphones.
Moving on to the back, we again get Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
And the only thing that we find here, other than the Redmi branding is
this new squarish, quad camera module. Which is again protected by
Gorilla Glass 5. Main camera gets a 48 Megapixel sensor
withF/1.8 aperture and 26mm lens. Then there is an
8 megapixel camera, with13mm ultra wide lens and F/2.2 aperture.
Followed by a 5 megapixel Macro camera withF/2.4 aperture, and a
2 megapixel depth sensor again with F/2.4 aperture.
Taking a look at the buttons and ports. At the bottom, we have
every ones favourite 3.5 mm audio jack to the left. USB Type C port for
charging and data transfer. A microphone and a speaker grill. On the right
side, we have a physical finger print sensor hidden under the power
button, just like the one on the
POCO X2. And the volume up and down buttons above it. I like having a physical
fingerprint sensor, because it is usually must faster and accurate than the
in display ones, at least on budget smartphones. At the top, we
have the IR blaster and a secondary noise cancelling microphone. And on
the left side, we have the SIM tray. This is a triple slot tray, which
means you can use 2 NANO SIM cards and a microSD card at the same
time.
Now for the internals, Redmi has gone back to Qualcomm and this Note
9 Pro packs in their latest Snapdragon 720G processor, coupled with
Adreno 618 GPU. You can choose between 4 and 6 GB of RAM, and 64 or
128 GB of built in storage. All of this is powered by a massive
5020 mAh non-removable battery. I haven’t had this phone for long
enough to run its battery down, but when it eventually runs out of juice,
there is a 18watt fast charger included in the box.
It comes with the latest version of MIUI 11 running on top of Android
10, and overall software experience seems to be pretty smooth so far. I just
hate the fact that there is just too much bloatware installed on Redmi
phones out of the box. And there adds in the UI and spam notifications are
just getting out of hand. You will have to take a long time a limit the ads
and notifications that you see by going in to the settings of each pre
installed apps. I just hope Redmi stops spamming us with the so cheap
tactics.
I’ve had this phone for less than a day,so I can’t really say much about
its overall performance. I’ll have more to say about this in my full review.
What I can tell you now, is this phone looks and feels very good in the
hands. It is a bit bigger and taller, than the previous Redmi Note phones,
but that extra heft brings a bigger display, and a significant larger
battery. So I think most people will welcome this change and get used to it
in a few days. With new design, upgraded internals, bigger battery and a
mammoth 48 megapixel camera, I think Xiaomi is hitting all the right spots
with the Note 9 Pro. But there is another device the
Redmi Note9 Pro Max . And it will come with a few things that thisNote 9 Pro doesn’t
have. And price wise, there wont be much of a difference between the two. So
which one should you get? and i have already have a blog on
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. click on link to see.
If you are looking to buy the Redmi Note 9 Pro, I will leave a link
